Is A-Rod now A-Roid

9 02 2009
According to SI.com on Saturday morning they released a story stating that Yankees third baseman, Alex Rodriguez, tested positive for steroids in an anonymous 2003 test where 104 players tested positive. The basis of this test was to show that less then 5% of MLB players took steroids in an attempt to prevent steroid testing.

A-Rod came out today and admitted he took steroids for three years from 2001-2003.

A-Rod career is on a path that is set to break Barry Bonds’ home run record, along with many other offensive records, but all this is now tainted. The Yankees were banking on the fact that he was clean, because it is a huge draw for fans and television.

It does surprise me that he came clean, but it was the right thing for him to do. He can now begin to move on from this, and the MLB needs to do the same. They should take this incident in stride and make a statement that they are now fully ready to move on. It will be interesting to see what happens to A-Rod in the upcoming months.
