Mets Keep Oliver Perez

3 02 2009

(Monday February 2nd, 2009) It has been reported by multiple sources that the New York Mets have reached an agreement with free agent pitcher Oliver Perez. The deal becomes official after Perez passes his physical.

The deal is reportedly worth 3 years and $36 million.

With the Mets losing out on the Derek Lowe sweepstakes they needed to retain Perez to keep depth at the starting pitching position. He brings youth and the ability to show up in big spots. Hopefully he can work out his kinks and pitch more consistently in the future for the Mets.
