If you are looking for a new show to check out, and have a taste for horror movies, give CBS’s “Harper’s Island” a look this Thursday night.
The mini-series follows a wedding party at a sparsely populated island off the coast of Washington. Taking a page out of Agatha Christie’s book, the show will see the majority of its cast killed off one by one, but whom the killer is will remain a mystery deep into the series. The first week of the show offered good storylines, solid character development and more than a little suspense.
The show, which premiered its first episode (there will be 13) this past week to rave reviews airs Thursday night’s at 10 p.m.
Ozzy Osbourne and his family have a new show, entitled “The Osbournes:Reloaded.” The premise of the show isn’t much different from their past shows (we’re a crazy family with a famous father…WATCH US!), but it seems that this show takes things a little too far. To fully get what I mean, check out the link above for the details of the first episode.
This video is well worth the watch if your into college basketball. Gus Johnson is the voice of the NCAA March Madness to me. This remix of a Fort Minor song done a few years ago is phenomenal.
Just watch the video and tell me you don’t get pumped up when Johnson goes “We’re going to overtimeeee innnnn Lexington…. HAHA!”
What a shocker Sean Penn won best actor for portraying Harvey Milk in the movie titled Milk.
Did he really deserve this award? Probably not.
Mickey Rourke’s portrayal of a washed up wrestler was a tremendous acting job, but he basically killed his chances at winning best actor in the Oscars by saying something positive about President Bush when he won best actor in the Golden Globes.
Also, Clint Eastwood’s performance in Gran Torino far surpasses Penn’s role in Milk. It was a poor job by the Academy to not even nominate him for this.
I am in no way saying that Penn didn’t deserve a nomination but it was clear that as soon as he was nominated he would win no question. Penn is a great actor but his views sometimes get in the way of his acting.
There were better movies, and better actors this year. Dark Knight not even being nominated after making over a billion dollars was a joke. I dont know there were just a few questions in this years Academy Awards, but congratulations to Slumdog Millionaire for cleaning up winning multiple awards including best movie.
ABC recently released their new lineup for Dancing With the Stars. Former Giants LB, Lawrence Taylor, joins a long list of football players, past and present who have been on the show. Usually they place in the top, if not win the whole thing.

According to this Associated Press story, more people are ditching their cable subscriptions because they can find their favorite TV shows online.
With sites designed specifically for this like Hulu, this could become more common. And already the network TV stations are all offering their shows online, as well as on the tube.
Professional skateboarder, Rob Dyrdek picks up where he left off, bringing the readers into his event packed life at Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory.
The skateboarder became a recognized figure on MTV’s Rob & Big, a show that featured Dyrdek and his body guard, Christopher “Big Black” Boykins living the lives that many people can only dream of, in Los Angeles, California.
Over the course of three seasons, the two shared a huge home with Rob’s cousin nicknamed “Drama,” who is his personal assistant and often the object of some physical abuse.
Dyrdek, also welcomed two new members into his unique family. He bought a pudgy little bulldog that became known as “Meaty” and an out of control miniature horse, known as “Mini.” When not entertaining the two pets, Rob and Big would go on some crazy adventures. They rode the Superman ride swinging over visitors at a local theme park, driving dune buggies, making a music video and of course going skateboarding. They even taught Meaty to skateboard. Eventually the two had to part ways, when Big found out he was a father and moved out to go live with his girlfriend and their baby.
This season, begins when Rob races his Campagna T-Rex motorcycle onto the basketball court of his 25,000 square-foot warehouse, which also includes his own skate park, offices for all of his employees and a home for him, and his pets. It is also learned that he no longer has the miniature horse and welcomes another bulldog puppy, named “Beefy”.
Rob also has a foam pit and buys an inflatable blob that everyone can bounce off and land in the foam pit. He is also opening a restaurant with Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom, who he plays a game of one-on-one with, while on stilts.
For those looking for an entertaining show that lacks the made up drama of Laguna Beach or any other MTV show, then this show is just for you. So, tune in to MTV at 9pm on Sundays.
So yesterday was the Super Bowl between the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Obviously you knew that cause over 90 million people world wide watched it, which ranks 2nd all-time coming up just a little short of last years Super Bowl between the Giants and the Patriots.
However, was this years Super Bowl worth such a high viewership? If it wasn’t for the last 5 minutes of the game it was rather boring. The Steelers defense hadn’t lived up to their hype, and the Cardinals offense was on neutral.
With a critical choice by Cardinals head coach, Ken Whisenhunt, decided to punt down 20-14 with under 6 mins to play in the game. Cardinals Punter Ben Graham pinned the Steelers back, which would eventually lead to a safety for the Cardinals.
With the ball back and the score 20-16 the Cardinals drove to pull ahead 23-20. The games in the bag right? Wrong.
Not outdoing last years famous “Miracle in the Desert” catch by David Tyree of the Giants, with :35 seconds left in the game Receiver Santonio Holmes caught the game winning touchdown and sealed the deal for the Steelers 6th Super Bowl.
It was an okay Super Bowl but it didn’t live up to the hype it received. Also, the commercials were extremely weak. Although the Cardinals lost I felt that Quarter Back Kurt Warner should have won the MVP award for his valiant effort.
Holmes' game winning touchdown with :35 seconds left.
I have been an avid Scrubs watcher for about three years now, buying the old seasons to catch up to the present and watching the new shows on NBC the past two years. I was really excited when the show switched to ABC because I am not ready for the show to come to an end. Though the show probably will be ending after this year, it is good to see it at least get a proper farewell season—if this is it for the show—rather than last year’s strike-marred season being the show’s conclusion.
However, even I knew the show was starting to become a little stale storyline-wise last season. The writers seemed to be at a loss for new ideas. In the past year and a half it seemed all the writers could come up with to add some spice to the show was to keep having different characters have babies.
So, while I was excited for Scrubs to return this season I did have a little bit of trepidation that the season would continue the downward cycle of the show. Would I still watch? Of course, but mainly out of loyalty to the show and a desire to see its conclusion.
But this season so far (six episodes) has gone way above my expectations. The first show seemed a little slow in the going, but I think the writers felt a need to introduce all the characters a bit to the ABC audience. But, they have made a few great moves with the show this season (I’ll stay away from plot developments in case you have not seen the episodes and I inspire you to catch up)…
…The decision to keep the character of Bob Kelso around was a great move after he lost his job as chief of medicine, and also a nice way to end his character. While I think most viewers always thought he was very funny on the show, his character is a bit sadistic in the way he thinks of patients. This is a chance for viewers to feel okay about liking him because they can see his genuine human side. It doesn’t hurt that he has continued to be funny.
…The addition of the three new interns as strong secondary characters was a smart way to liven up the show, and inject a little bit of juice into the cast. There have been some rumors about these new interns becoming the main characters in a future season, if they do like a “Scrubs ‘The New Cast’” type deal, but that is in the future. As of now, the interns have added a few new storylines to the show, and also have allowed us to see the progression of JD, Turk and Elliot in how they deal with these interns, the first interns really given room for their own character development (Keith was just a pawn for Elliot).
…Lastly, the outtakes at the end of the show are priceless. Possibly, the best part of the show. Here is one below.
By my account, we were subjected to a weak field of Super Bowl commercials this year. There were a couple bright spots, but definitely more low lights than usual.
My vote for best commercial below…
I was watching the game with about 20-30 people, and everyone burst out laughing during this one. I thought the ending was a bit weak—I was hoping for a snow globe to the face rather than the groin—but the opening segments there were pretty hysterical.
Worst Commercial…
Why would I want to drink Coke after seeing this commercial? Scary looking little ants are going to steal my drink, and probably one or two stragglers would probably crawl up my leg. No thanks.
With only one day away from the Superbowl XLIII showdown between the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers, everything appears to be perfect in what is expected to be an entertaining game.
This Sunday, Kurt Warner, 37, could lead the Cardinals to their first Superbowl in the team’s history. The grizzly quarterback has helped the Arizona offense to rank among the top of the league this season. Warner threw for over 4,500 yards this season and added 30 touchdowns. He had three receivers go over 1,000 yards receiving. The passing offense has been so dominate that the “Greatest Show on Turf,” has become a thing of the past. Warner looks to be only the third quaterback to win a superbowl with two different teams, after winning his first with the St. Louis Rams in 2000.
The Steelers have played just as well, but for contrasting reasons. Pittsburgh is a team known for their physical play, have done just that this season. The defense has led the NFL in points allowed (13.9) and yards per game (237.2). The team came into the playoffs as the 2nd seed in the AFC, but have beaten the San Diego Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens moving on to the superbowl and possibly a second championship in four years.
For those not attending the game, it’s time to put on your favorite jersey, get a babysitter for the kids and prepare for the festivities. There is one problem though, there could be one major player out of the food spread line-up.
